Robert D. Nickerson, age 85, passed away March 10th at the Salem Hospital. Born in Boston, he was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School and was a Veteran of the United States Army.. He worked as a Bus Driver for the MBTA for 27 years before retiring in 1991. He has lived in Quincy for over 25 years before moving to Malden and was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He was previously a member of the Logan post in Somerville where he was on the Honor Guard.
Beloved husband of Helen J. (Ferman). Father of Michele Campbell and her husband Daniel of Somerville and Stephanie Nickerson of Somerville. Stepfather of James Lewis and his partner Buck Bachman of Lynn and Michael Lewis and his wife Karen Flaherty Lewis of VA. Brother of Edith Molloy of Milton and Georgia Holtz of MN and the late Edward Nickerson, Laura Driscoll and Lois Nickerson. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Wednesday 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, Quincy Thursday morning at 10. Burial Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
