Obituary



Stavros C. "Steve" Zoulas, 84, of Leicester, died Saturday, March 10th after a short illness. His wife of 52 years, Statia (Efstratiou) Zoulas died in 2010. Steve is survived by his daughter, Teena D. Lenis and her husband, John of Worcester; his brother, Soterios Zoulas and his wife, Grace Sahagian of Sudbury; his sister, Katherine Bazoukas of Worcester; his two granddaughters, Christina Lenis and her husband, Nick Neofitidis of Astoria, NY and Catherine Lenis of Oakland, CA and many nephews and nieces.

He was born in Tsamanta, North Epirus, Greece the son of Christos and Demetroula (Milionis) Zoulas. Steve was an Army Veteran and served during the Korean War. Mr. Zoulas was a graduate of the former Worcester Junior College earning an Associates Degree in Business. Steve had previously owned the Night Owl, T Bird Pizza and Zoulas Discount Liquors.

He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Seniors Group and was an active volunteer at the bi-annual Grecian Festival held at the Cathedral. Steve was also a member of the Order of AHEPA, the West Boylston Masonic Lodge, AF &AM and had served as treasurer for the St. George Hellenic Benefit Society of Tsamanta. He enjoyed golf, bowling, cigars and a Rob Roy with no cherry. He was proud of his Greek heritage and enjoyed time spent with family, especially his granddaughters.

His funeral is Thursday, March 15th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, March 14th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
