Obituary

GALLIVAN, Charles B. "Charlie" Of Dedham, Dennis and originally of Mattapan, March 7, 2018, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Maureen (Hennigan) Gallivan for 59 years. Loving father of Maryann of Dedham, Paul and his wife Barbara of Walpole, John and his wife Debbie of Burlington, James and his wife Brooke McMillan of Walpole, Brian and his partner Mike Kosinski of Los Angeles, and Patricia McNamara and her husband Kevin of Dedham. Loving son of the late Patrick and the late Molly (O’Shea) of Mattapan. Dear brother of Marion Gallivan of Dedham, Edward Gallivan and his wife Margaret of Yarmouthport, the late James Gallivan and his late wife Mary Gallivan of Dedham and the late Patricia Cronin and her late husband Jake Cronin of Dedham. Brother-in-law of John R. Hennigan and his wife Theresa of Westwood, and the late Gerard Hennigan of Randolph. Beloved grandfather ("Cha") of 12 grandchildren: Michael, Timothy, Connor, Patrick, Christopher, Brendan, Owen, Finn, Jack, Maran, Megan and Charlotte. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Charlie was a graduate of Hyde Park High School and of Boston College Class of 1954. He was a dedicated math teacher, Hall of Fame basketball coach (not even close to a Hall of Fame baseball coach) at Hyde Park High for many years. Known for his sense of humor, Charlie will also be remembered for his love of family and spending time on Cape Cod.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, March 11 from 4-8 pm at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Monday, March 12 at 9:00 AM prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Denis Church, Westwood at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
