Ellen Edwards, 93, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, March 9, 2018, at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Luther Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in the Mystic Cemetery, in Mystic, Georgia. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Edwards was born March 11, 1924, in Worth County, Georgia, to the late David & Margaret Shiver Willis. She lived in the community all of her life and was a former machine operator for Modern Fibers. She also worked for Hudson & Paulk Produce, shelling peas as well as Hudson Pecan. Mrs. Edwards loved working in her yards and spending time with her family. She was a member of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Clinton & Shirley Edwards of Dakota; a daughter, Melba E. McNatt of Ocala, Florida, a son, Jerry & Becky Edwards of Ocilla; eight grandchildren: David Carl Edwards & Vicki, Debra Sadler & Randy, Linda Law & Thomas, Jennifer Stewart & Stan, Brandon McNatt, Michael Edwards & DeAnna, Christy Sheffield & Jeff and Ricky Edwards & Mary; 19 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great- grandchildren and a sister, Ima Jean Willis Mitchell of Albany. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Caroyl Clinton Edwards; a son, Richard Gabriel Edwards; a grandson, Jonathon Jeffrey Sheffield, seven sisters and one brother.
