Obituary

James J. Butler age 88 of Raynham formerly of West Bridgewater and Brockton died Monday March 5, 2018 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Lucille A. (Bebeau) Butler.

Jim was born in Brockton a son of the late Louis and Bridget (Gilligan) Butler and lived in the city for most of his life. He was a 1948 graduate of Brockton High School where he was voted Best Dressed. Following graduation Jim enlisted in the US Air Force and was a Korean War veteran.

Jim retired as an engineer with Verizon after working in the telecommunications field for many years. In his free time he loved to read, go to the movies and golf. He also enjoyed watching all New England sports and attending live music performances. Most importantly Jim loved life and was dedicated to his family. He was a mentor to everyone.

Jim was the father of Kevin J. Butler and his wife Lucia of Bridgewater, James C. Butler and his wife Rachel of Taunton and Daniel E. Butler and his husband Nick White of Raynham. He is survived by four grandchildren Andrew, Christopher, Conor and Ashlyn Butler and his companion Judith Wainwright of Raynham. He was the brother of the late Louis Butler.

Visiting hours will held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday 5-8pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 8am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
