Obituary

Richard P “Richie” Madden, 83, of Pembroke formerly of Weymouth, Quincy and South Boston, passed away on March 4, 2018 after a period of declining health. He was the son of the late Stephen and Josephine Madden and brother of Stephen, Paul, Glen and Marilyn all who predeceased him. He was the husband to the late Kathleen (MacDonald) Madden. Loving father of Leslie Madden, James Madden and his wife Marife of Pembroke, Richard S Madden and his partner Marci Yolande of Stoughton. He was the beloved Grandfather “Uppa” to Michael and Matthew Madden of Pembroke. He also leaves his nephew, Warren Madden, of Dorchester and nieces Dawn Marie Parzych of South Boston and Josephine Madden of Quincy and his former wife, Harriette Madden of Pembroke. His extended family includes the entire MacDonald clan whom he loved very much. Richie grew up in the projects of South Boston and was always a Southie boy at heart. He served in the Airforce during the Korean War and was a proud retiree of Boilermakers Local 29. He loved collecting many things, especially classic cars. He had a great love of Ireland and all things Irish and often reminisced about the family trip to the emerald isle. The family would like to thank the staff of the following facilities for their kind and compassionate care. Dr. Dolan and the nursing and support staff at South Shore Hospital. The entire staff at Colony Center in Abington, All American Assisted Living in Hanson and Windrose at Weymouth. Visiting Hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St, Pembroke on Friday, March 9, from 4:00 to 8:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Pembroke on Saturday, March 10, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Center Cemetery, Pembroke.
