Obituary

Ann (McCallion) Carnes of Canton, formerly of Charlestown, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on March 3rd.
Beloved wife of the late William M. Carnes. Mother of Mary R. Keable and her husband Michael of Oakland, RI, William M. Carnes and his wife Nancy of Hopkinton, Susan E. Carnes of Boston and John A. Carnes and his wife Angela of Burlington. Grandmother of: Sean, Lauren and Matthew Carnes, Jacquelyn, Catherine and Michael Keable and Sarah and Kevin Carnes. Also survived by her sister Rosemary Cronin and her brother and sister in law John and Susan McCallion.
A retired Boston Public Schools educator, Ann earned her master’s degree in education from Salem State College and her undergraduate degree from Boston State College. She was the past co-president of the Canton Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), served for several years as a judge for the John F Kennedy Profiles in Courage essay contest and was a member of the Canton Garden Club. Ann enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at her summer home in Manomet. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Saturday at 10:30. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
