Obituary

Stephen P. Anderson, a resident of Andover, formerly of Swampscott and Danvers, beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (McBride), passed away at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill on Thursday morning, March 1, 2018. He was 75 years old.

Born in Salem, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Richard P. Anderson and Virginia (Leach) Anderson of Danvers. He graduated from Northeastern University, where he met his wife of fifty three years, and began a teaching career. He later worked for Belden Wire & Cable as a national sales representative for twenty years. He retired from the University of Mass. Boston in 2008, having served as the head of Information Technology for the department of Continuing Education.

Steve had many interests and passions in life, including astronomy, ham radio and woodworking. He was an active Mason for many years, past master of Amity-Mosaic Lodge of Danvers and most recently a member and the organist for Philanthropic Lodge of Marblehead. Above all, Steve loved spending time with his grandchildren, sharing his musical talent, watching them at sporting events, building Pinewood Derby cars and elaborate Lego projects. He was truly a warm and caring person who loved being with people of all ages.

Stephen is also survived by his children, Stephen and his wife Sharon Anderson of Marblehead and Terry Anderson and her husband Mark Chisholm of Andover, the much loved grandchildren Maxwell, Benjamin and Luke Anderson and Charlotte, Jacob and Zachary Chisholm, and his sister Margaret and her husband Donald Truesdell of Sellersburg, Indiana. He was the elder brother of the late Douglas Anderson. He also leaves nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Stephen’s funeral services will be privately held. Donations in his memory may be made to the Bright Horizon Foundation for Children, 233 Newton Street, Suite #440, Newton, MA 02464.
