Obituary

Brenda Jean Rodriguez, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away on February 28, 2018. A daughter of John M. and Rose A. (Capone) Airey, she was the beloved wife of Julio Rodriguez for 32 years.

A graduate of Winchester High School, she was a cheerleader and a softball player. Brenda was energetic and a self-starter. Whether walking the runway as a Barbizon Model or working alongside her husband as a restaurateur, she brought passion and grace to everything she did.

Her family and faith were at the center of Brenda’s life. Incredibly loving, kind, and generous – she was affectionately known for “mothering everyone”. She raised her family in the Christian faith and served her community as a member of the Church of the Open Bible. Her favorite holidays were Christmas and Valentine’s day where she took full advantage of these opportunities to share her abundant love with her family and friends.

Brenda knew how to have fun. She had a beaming smile and a full body laugh. Be it dragging everyone onto the dance floor at weddings or organizing weekend volleyball games, Brenda brought her contagious, fun-loving spirit to everything she did. Even while she battled illness she always found ways to take care of her family, spoil her grandchildren and love life.

In addition to her husband and parents, Brenda is survived by her children: Rachel Allender and her husband Ernest of Woburn, Christine Mazzarella of Lowell, Samantha Gilbert and her husband Brian of Rowley, J. Thomas Rodriguez of Winchester, Joshua Rodriguez of Winchester, Joseph Paha of Winchester and Jay Wightman of Melrose. She was the dear sister of Judy Lilley and her husband Steven of Woburn, Ed Airey and wife Noreen of Ossipee, NH, Daniel Airey and wife Ullie of Woburn, Rebecca DiFronzo and husband Butch of Pittsfield, NH and the late Pauline R. Paha. She is further lovingly survived by 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Monday, March 5th from 9:30-11:30AM, followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11:30 AM.
