Obituary

Benjamin Edson Jacobs, 97 years, formerly of Laconia, NH and Tequesta, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2018 at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH.

Born June 14, 1920 in Meredith, NH, he was the son of Tristram Coffin Jacobs and Mildred (Edson) Jacobs. He graduated from Meredith High School in 1938 and served as a Sergeant with the US Army, Co K of the 405th Combat Infantry Regiment, Rhineland Campaign, during World War II.

Ben was the parts manager at Cantin Chevrolet for 43 years. He was a 32 degree Mason and past master of the Bektash Temple in Laconia, a Shriner with the Winnipesaukee Shriner's Club and Shriner's International, former member of the Lakes Region Barbershop Quartet, and a 60 year member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876, he also greatly enjoyed golfing and traveling with his wife Aline.

He will be greatly missed by his four daughters; Susan Clough and her husband George of Gilford, Jane Fortin of Laconia, Nancy Wilkinson Jacobs and her husband Bruce of Laconia and Palm City, Florida, and Camille Jacobs-Schubert and her husband Chuck of Gilford. Besides his children he also leaves five grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 16 nieces and nephews, and his remaining sister in law, Simone Ober of Laconia. Ben was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Aline LaFramboise Jacobs who died in 2012 and four siblings; Ada, Helen, Lillie Belle and Tristram Coffin.

A memorial service honoring his life will be held at the Laconia Congregational Church, 69 Pleasant Street, Laconia on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 3:00 pm.

The ashes of he and his wife will be interred together at the Meredith Village Cemetery, Meredith, NH on June 14, 2018; his 98 birthday.

The Jacobs Family would like to sincerely thank the unfailingly kind and supportive team of caregivers and support staff at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton for the loving care extended to Ben during his four year residence.
