Obituary

PARSONSFIELD/Taylor City- G. Earl Taylor, age 95, passed away on Feb. 22, 2018, at the home he was born in, surrounded by his loved ones.

Earl was born on March 26, 1922, a child of the late Carl and Ruth (Wheeler) Taylor.

After graduating from Parsonsfield Seminary, Earl went on to serve in WWII in the US Army in the 531st Engineering Shore Regiment. During the war, he served in Africa and throughout Europe-receiving many decorations and citations. He went on to marry the love of his life- Alice Carter, whom he was married to for 68 years until her passing in 2014.

Earl was The Mayor of Taylor City for many years. He ran his general store in Taylor City and worked a short time at High Meadow Farms with his brother Percy. He was active in town affairs, serving on the planning board and the school board.

He was a member of the South Effingham Church preservation association, a trustee and member of the Friends of Par Sem, a 50 + year member of Charter Oak Masonic Lodge and Charter member of Effingham Historical Society. He will always be remembered for the enjoyment he had hunting, bowling, playing checkers, horseshoes, arguing politics and let's not forget watching the Red Sox.

He is survived by his children- William Taylor, Alan Taylor, and Linda Morin and her husband Donald; grandchildren- Christopher and his wife Becky, Teresa and her fiancé Ryan Shepard, and Mat and his wife Becca; great grandchildren- Dillon, Justin, Chloe, Justice, Cody and Casey; great great grandson- Peter Dillon; sisters in law- Joyce Collomy and Ellie Meserve; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service at South Effingham Cemetery with US Army Honors will be announced in the spring.
