Obituary


David H. Crehan, of Tewksbury and former longtime resident of Wilmington passed away peacefully, February 21, 2018, at the Bear Hill Nursing center in Wakefield following a lengthy illness. He was 82 years of age.

David was raised and educated in Wilmington and was a 1953 graduate of Wilmington High School. A proud Veteran, he honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service he began his career as a talented machinist and engineer. He worked for many years prior to his retirement as a wave guide engineer with the REA Assoc. of Billerica. He was very detail oriented and dedicated to his work. David was well respected in his field and often enjoyed mentoring younger coworkers as they began their careers.

David was a true car enthusiast and loved Corvettes and Cadillacs. His greatest passion was Hot Rods and Dragsters. He was a pioneer and well known in the New England drag racing circles and especially known for his skill at building engines and driving in the super modified circuit.

David was the devoted and beloved father of Michele Crehan of Malden and the late David C. Crehan. He was the loving grandfather of Jessica Crehan of Malden and Johnny Legrow of Maine. Brother of Mary Evans of Florida and the late James Crehan. Uncle of Michael Evans of New York.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Monday, February 26th, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in David's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
