Obituary

Phillip Henry Musslewhite, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Fitzgerald Church of Christ, with Minister Michael Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Musslewhite was born July 25, 1948, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Rufus & Lonell Coleman Musslewhite. He lived in the community all of his life and graduated from Fitzgerald High School. He retired from Coachman Industries after 34 years of service. Mr. Musslewhite enjoyed tinkering with wood and was a handyman who could fix anything, especially at his church. He was a good father, loved smiling and always cared deeply about others. Mr. Musslewhite was a member of The Fitzgerald Church of Christ.

He is survived by his children: Diedra & Albert Rose of Douglas, Derrick & Holly Musslewhite of Holiday, Florida and Dana & Ryan Hood of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Sierra & Raymond Smith and Anthony Musslewhite; great-grandchild, Scarlett Smith; and two sisters: Patricia M. Cantrell and Jessie M. Griffin, both of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Eva Hood; a sister, Glenda Deerwester and a brother, Rufus Ronald Musslewhite.
