Margaret M. (Mitchell) Austin, age 85, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 17, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James H. Austin Sr., her daughter, Catherine Cromer and her husband Phillip and a son James H. Austin Jr. and his wife Beth and her grandchildren, Amy Cromer, Andrea Cromer, Abigail Cromer, Sarah Austin and James Austin III all of Weymouth. Margaret also leaves her brother in law Frank Rand of Weymouth and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Jack Mitchell and her sister, Anne Rand.
Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Weymouth when she was 16 years old where she resided for the rest of her life. After moving to Weymouth, she met her husband at the Pilgrim Congregational Church Youth Group here in Weymouth. She was a volunteer at Weymouth Elder services for 5 years and was a member of the Elder Services Naughty Needlers.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours for Margaret on Tuesday, February 20 from 4-8 pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. Friends and relatives will gather for a funeral service in honor of Margaret at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 24 Athens St. N. Weymouth on Wednesday starting promptly at 10 AM.
