Shirley A. (Zager) Dube, 82, of New Bedford died Friday, February 16, 2018 at Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph H.R. Dube.
Born in Winthrop, MA, the daughter of the late Max B. and Rose A. (Johnson) Zager, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Dube was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
She was formerly employed as a stitcher at Bonnie Lane Manufacturing for 30 years until her retirement.
Shirley had a lifelong love of dancing, and she was never more happy than when she was able to dance her cares away on the dance floor. She also loved gardening and tending to all of her flowers and plants, especially in the springtime.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Ann Benner and her husband Warren of Rochester; 3 sons, Jeffrey Paul Dube and his wife Joanne of Vero Beach, FL, Michael Joseph Dube of Parrish, FL and David William Dube and his wife Kristin of Leominster, MA; a sister, Marie Y. Hetu of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey P. Dube, II, Sarah M. Dube, Aaron J. Benner, Chelsea R. Dube, Isaac C. Benner, Michael A. Dube, Nicholas B. Rice, Lauren R. Dube and Megan E. Dube; and 3 great-grandchildren, Zephanie T. Dube, Hadley S. Pick and Brady T. Pick; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John P. Zager, Patricia M. Vincent, M. Louise Blanchette, Marcia P. Bergeron and Rose Delores Williams.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-6 PM.
