Obituary

John P. Pantazelos, of Malden, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 16th at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was 77.

Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Peter and Priscilla Pantazelos. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. John was honorably discharged on November 17, 1965.

John worked as a taxi driver. He loved his job and being with people. After his retirement in 1989, John enjoyed his time with family. There wasn’t anything he cared more about than his children and grandchildren.

In his spare time, John enjoyed watching sports and keeping up on his favorite Boston teams, the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He loved watching the games and calling his family to talk all about what he had just watched.

John was a fun loving person—caring and generous. He was always very positive and in good spirits. John was a grateful and appreciative man that cared about people, family, friends and community alike. He was a man that you could count on. John’s kindness and loving demeanor will be missed by all the lives he touched.

He was the husband of the late Frances (Haas) Pantazelos and the devoted father of Christine Barone and her husband Tony of Medford, Kathy Pantazelos of Woburn, the late John Pantazelos, and his surviving wife Lori of Medford, and the late James Cutten and his surviving wife Valarie of Chicago. John was the loving grandfather of Antonio Barone of Medford, Nicholas Pantazelos and his wife Jessica of Hampstead, New Hampshire, Jamie Cutten of Florida, and the loving great grandfather of Ava and Lily Pantazelos, both of Hampstead, New Hampshire. John was the dear brother of Beverly Winn of Methuen, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Taso and Edward Pantazelos, Janet Noreau and Elaine Adams.

A funeral service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, February 21st at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with interment and military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
