Obituary

TRETTER, Anna (Recupero) of Dedham entered into eternal rest on February 10, 2018. Beloved wife of Charles with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Christopher P. Tretter, Thomas C. Tretter and wife Robyn, Anna Bridget Fitzpatrick and husband Bob, and Margaret-Rose Sales and husband Nathan. Cherished grandmother of 9 grandchildren, Laura and Thomas Tretter, Maialie, John and Charlie Fitzpatrick, Lucy and Sally Tretter, and Anna and Catherine Sales. Also survived by brother Thomas C. Recupero and sister-in-laws Claudia Recupero and Margaret Tretter. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Born to Thomas and Rose, Anna grew up in Dorchester and attended Jeremiah E. Burke High School (’56) where she was class president. She graduated cum laude from Boston College, School of Education (’60) and taught in the Boston public schools. While home with her children, Anna attended New England School of Law (’73). She was appointed Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts in 1978 and later was Senior Counsel for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Anna and Charlie enjoyed a 50 year close personal and professional relationship with the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy.

Anna maintained a life long passion for dance. She also dedicated her time to supporting vulnerable children through her work with CASA and her sponsorship of girls through Child Fund International. Above all, she inspired others with her kindness and was adored by her family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM on Monday, Feb. 12 from 3-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Dedham on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org or Rosie’s Place, www.rosiesplace.org. Anna’s family thanks the staff of the Clark House and Good Shepherd Hospice for their loving care.
