James G. Smith, age 95 of Canton, formerly of Braintree passed away February 8th at home surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Dorchester he graduated from Boston English High School and was a Army Air Corp Veteran of WW II. He was a Test Man for Verizon for many years before retiring. James has lived in Canton for the last 4 years and previously lived in Braintree for over 50 years where he was a member and Senior Deputy Director of the Braintree Emergency Management Association (BEMA).
Beloved husband of the late Agnes M. (Green). Father of Dana J. Smith and his wife Jo-Ellen of Kingston and Laurie A. Driscoll and her husband Mark of Canton. Grandfather of James and Eric Smith and Matthew and Stephen Driscoll. He was pre-deceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday February 15th from 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Friday morning February 16th at 10:30. Burial private. Army Air Corp Veteran of WW II.
