Obituary

Mr. David L. Cotnoir, 69, of Methuen, died Wednesday February 7, 2018 at Boston Medical Center. The son of Clement A. and the late Rita Y. (Comeau) Cotnoir, he was born in Fitchburg, MA on February 18, 1948. Mr. Cotnoir was a graduate of Fitchburg High School class of 1966. He graduated from New England Institute with a degree in anatomy and applied science in1969 and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Massachusetts. In 1977 he moved to Lawrence to manage and later own the Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home. Mr. Cotnoir was the owner and president of Racicot Funeral Home till his retirement last year. In 1992 he attained the certification of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner CFSP which he maintained right up untill his passing. Mr. Cotnoir was involved in many groups and organizations. He was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus council 67, Elks BPOE lodge 65, past president of the Exchange Club of Lawrence, the former Holy Family Hospital Mens Guild, Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association, and National Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Cotnoir was a parishioner of the former St. Anne Parish. Mr. Cotnoir is predeceased by his brothers; James Cotnoir, Wayne Cotnoir, and Kevin Cotnoir. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Nancy M. (Drummond) Cotnoir of Methuen, two sons; John R. Cotnoir and his wife Michelle of Dracut, and Daniel B. Cotnoir and his wife Lori of Dracut. He has eight grandchildren; Emma Cotnoir, Sarah Cotnoir, Ashley Cotnoir, Morgan Cotnoir, Sarah Witham, Amanda Landry, James Landry, and Keli Rossi. His father; Clement A. Cotnoir of Fitchburg, MA, one sister Carol and her husband Donald Hunt of Fitchburg, MA. There are nine great grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Sunday 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home, 1400 Broadway Rd, Dracut. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel, St. Theresa Church on Monday at 10:00am. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
