Obituary

William J. Ivey, 56, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, February 8, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Curtis Sumner officiating. Interment will be held 3 PM, Thursday, at Red Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery in Soperton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Ivey was born January 12, 1962, in Hialeah, Florida, to the late Johnny & Eva English Ivey. He moved to Fitzgerald in 2004 from Soperton. He was a correctional officer at the Irwin County Detention Center and worked as a yard driver for American Blanching and Golden Boy Foods. He also drove a truck for DaLan Trucking. Mr. Ivey took great pride in perfecting his yard. He will be remembered by friends and family as a very loving and forgiving husband, father, and grandfather who loved everybody he came in contact with. He attended Fitzgerald Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Elaine Padgett Ivey of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Jason & Angie of Wisconsin, Tracy of Soperton, Ben of Soperton, Jonathan & Mary of Fitzgerald, Matthew of Kentucky, Amanda & Greg of Conyers, and Garamiah of Fitzgerald; 11 grandchildren; two sisters: Patricia Whirl & Wilbur of Monroe and Tammy Ivey of Monroe; and two brothers: Billy Ivey of Pelham and John Ivey of Tennessee.
