Obituary



David M. Trane, a longtime resident of Wilmington formerly of Somerville passed away peacefully, January 29, 2018, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Maryellen T. (Barry) Trane, together sharing 43 years of marriage. Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late George T. and Margaret (Ostridge) Trane.

David was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of North Cambridge Catholic High School. He was a proud and decorated Veteran of the Vietnam War and honorably served in the United States Marine Corp from 1967 to 1971. He was awarded the Air Medal twice, the Navy Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Combat Air Crewman Insignia.

When David returned home from the service he worked for a number of years with General Motors as a Line Supervisor. In 1985 he opened his own business here in Wilmington, The Industrial Tool Co., which he operated until his retirement in 2012. David was a very talented man. He loved to tinker with things. He was a hobbyist and enjoyed collecting memorabilia and antique cars. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following all the local teams. However one of his greatest joys was being the "Favorite Uncle" to his many loving nieces and nephews. David was member of the Wilmington VFW and the Wakefield Lodge of Elks where he made many friendships throughout the years.

In Addition to his beloved wife Maryellen, David is survived by his sister, Ann Hoag and her husband Daniel of Somerville. He was the cherished brother-in-law of Michael Barry and his wife Nancy of Acushnet, Marian Barry-Ravagni and her husband Hugh of Saugus, Kevin Barry and his wife Gloria of Wilmington, John Barry of Medford, the late Jean Barry-Sutherland and her surviving husband Thomas of Medford, the late James S. Barry and Richard J. Barry. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Saturday, February 3rd, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Interment services will be private. Late United States Marine Corp Veteran of the Vietnam War.
