Obituary

Mr. Paul J. McGuire, a resident of Lawrence and beloved husband of Claire B. (DesJardins) McGuire, passed away peacefully at the Lawrence General Hospital on Sunday, January 21, 2018. He was 88 years old.

Born in Berlin, New Hampshire, he was the beloved son of the late Hugh and Angelina (Rheault) McGuire. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. McGuire was a Machine Operator for many years working in the former Oxford Paper Mill in Lawrence and Blyers Industries in Wakefield. Paul was an early member of the Northeast Council of Skin Divers comprised of the Lowell Underwater Explorers and the Andover Sports Divers, as a early rescue diver. He enjoyed the outdoors and was proud of his achievement of becoming an EMT for Blyers Industries late in his career. He loved being behind a camera, whether it be a film camera or a video camera. Mr. McGuire always loved large gatherings with family and friends. The holidays in particular were his favorite. Above all, Paul was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

Besides his beloved wife of almost 65 years, Claire, he is survived by his loving children; Michael P. and his wife Ruth S. McGuire of Lawrence, Leo A. McGuire of Shirley, Diane M. and her husband Richard J. Dul of Methuen, Russell D. and his wife Christina McGuire of Haverhill, Darlene A. and her husband Brian E. Lynch of Nicholville, New York and Kelley E. and her husband Michael F Sipsey of Methuen, brother; Larry and his wife Annette McGuire of West Minster, California, grandchildren; Sara, Justin, Ben, Raymond, Derek, Corrine, Alechia, Paul, Elizabeth, Matthew, Veronica, Andrew, Michael, Rebecca and Samantha, great-grandchildren; Olivia, Anna, Evelyn, Aubrey and Amelia and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Arthur, Eugene, Ernie, Leo, Albert and Raymond McGuire.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
