Obituary

“BostonRetired Boston Police Officer, Gerard D. "Gerry" Suprey, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 59 years of age.

Gerry was born in Chelsea on October 2, 1958, a son of the late Retired Boston Police Officer Walter H. Suprey and Mary E. (McNeil) Suprey. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1976 where he excelled on the varsity hockey team. While growing up in Charlestown, Gerry was very involved in the Charlestown Youth Hockey Program and the Charlestown Pop Warner Organization. Gerry joined the Boston Police Department on September 28, 1987 and served as a Boston Police Officer in the South End of Boston and downtown Boston. He retired from the Boston Police Department on January 1, 2011 following 24 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. Gerry enjoyed traveling to the beach and became very involved in Billerica Little League . He was a member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks # 2071.

Gerry is the devoted father of Shaun Suprey, Cory Suprey and Taylor Suprey. He is the loving Grampy to Gerard Suprey. Former husband of Joanne (Hayes) Suprey. He is the beloved brother of Ellie Tallent, Cissy Greatorex, retired Billerica Fire Department Captain Buddy Suprey, Maryann Remy, retired Boston Fire Department Captain Billy Suprey, Paula Rose, Pattyann Suprey, Peggy Suprey and the late Jeannie Doherty. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gerry's Funeral on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial will be private. His visiting hours will be on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2 to 6 P.M. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Gerry's name to St. Francis De Sales Church Building Fund, 303 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, Mass. 02129.
