Obituary

Jean A. (Mills) Scannell, (age 85) of Hingham, formerly of Weymouth, and Canton, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones to join her husband Bill on January 22, 2018. Jean is survived by her children Claire Nolan and her husband Dave of Weymouth, Lisa Scannell and her husband Dave Carlon of Hull, Judy Parker and the late Charles Parker of Braintree, Bill Scannell and his wife Pam of Vestal, New York, her grandchildren Lynnette Nolan of New York City, Jillian Nolan of Weymouth, Colleen Brown and her husband Chris of Vestal, New York, Meghan Lepkowski and her husband Patrick of Apalachin, New York, Patrick Scannell and his wife Camille of Rochester, New York, her great grandchildren Claire & Conor Brown and Evelyn Scannell, her dear “sisters” Liz Russo, Barbara Rafferty, Carol Crook, and sister-in-law Doris Jones.

Jean started her career as a telephone operator and retired from the Registry of Motor Vehicles after many years of service. Jean’s fulfillment in life came from raising her children and her continued love and support as they grew, got married, and started their own families. Nana had a special bond with each of her grandchildren.

Jean will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, and concern for all who touched her life. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon at St. Gerard Magella Church, Washington St. Canton, MA. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery Canton, MA. The family will receive friends on Friday 4-8 pm at Dockray Thomas Funeral Home, Washington St. Canton, MA.

The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Harbor House who cared for Jean as a member of their family.
