Maria I. (Andrade) Adao, 90, of New Bedford died January 14, 2018 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Jose C. Adao.
Born in Terceira, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel G. and Maria dos Anjos (Cabral) Andrade, she lived in New Bedford since 1968.
Survivors include 3 sons, Fernando Adao and Rui Adao, both of New Bedford and Luis Adao, and his wife Patricia, of Dartmouth; 2 daughters, Teresa Almeida and Lucy Sykes and her husband Dennis, all of New Bedford; a sister, Maria de Lourdes Luis of New Bedford; 8 grandchildren, Fernando, Maria, Dennis, Jessica, Louie, Jr., Robert, Carrie and David; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 nieces.
She was the sister of the late Fernando Andrade and Manuel Andrade.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 26th at 9 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 25th from 4-6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
