Rev. Fr. William Joseph
Age 60, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2018. Beloved son of Frances Baer (nee Molz); loving brother of Jane Reynolds (Larry), Raymond F. Baer, Jr. (Lisa), Betty Lemley (Michael) and Teresa McDermott (Patrick); and favorite uncle of many nieces and nephews. Fr. Baer was preceded in death by his father Raymond F. Baer, Sr. and niece Julie McDermott. Fr. Baer, a Baltimore native, graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in architecture. Following a brief career as an architect, he served as a lay campus minister in Maryland and Michigan. He discerned his priestly vocation and was ordained for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in 1996. Prior to his role as Pastor at Transfiguration, Fr. Baer was the Rector of St. John Vianney College Seminary in St. Paul and served at Nativity of Our Lord Parish in St. Paul. Fr. Baer touched the lives of many through his strong devotion to the Sacraments, incredible homilies, and brilliant sense of humor. He will be deeply missed. Visitation Monday, January 22, 2018 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, followed by an all-night Vigil from 8:00 PM until 7:00 AM Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at TRANSFIGURATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 6133 - 15th St. N, Oakdale, MN. Entombment at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Transfiguration Catholic Church or Little Sisters of the Poor Baltimore, 601 Maiden Choice Lane, Baltimore, MD 21228.
