Obituary

WEBSTER - Florence C. Motyka, 84, died Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

She leaves a brother, Frank R. Motyka and his wife Theresa of Tewksbury; a sister, Joan LaFlamme of Bath, NH; six nieces and nephews, ten great-nieces and great-nephews and a great-grandniece. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Tycz.

She was born in Dudley and raised in Webster, a daughter of Frank and Cecelia (Noga) Motyka, and lived here all her life. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1950 and earned an Associate Degree from Becker Junior College in 1955.

Miss Motyka worked as the business office manager for many years at the former MA Bell.
She was a very active member of Saint Joseph Basilica and belonged to its Holy Rosary Sodality, Saint Anne Society and to the St. John Paul II Foundation of New England. She had served on the church’s renovation committee and sold cash calendars for many years.

She traveled extensively throughout her life, visiting many foreign countries and most of the United States, including both Alaska and Hawaii. She was an avid fan of all the Boston teams but especially loved watching Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

The funeral will be held Friday, January 19, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday, January 18, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to St. Joseph School, 47 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
