Jimmy Layman Summers, 72, of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, at his residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Summers at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Chula, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Tim Morgan will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 16, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born April 10, 1945 in Tift County, Mr. Summers was the son of the late James Cauley Summers and Susie Irene Mangham Summers. He was retired from Exopack and he was an avid gardener and loved sharing his produce with friends and neighbors.
Mr. Summers is survived by his wife, Peggy Hinson Summers of Tifton; his children and their spouses, Jimmy LaDan Summers and Tracy and Brian Bass, all of Tifton and Charlton Layman and Amy Summers of Waverly, Tennessee; his grandchildren and their spouses, Keree and Russell Pack of Sycamore and Hunter Summers and Sawyer Bass, both of Tifton; his great-grandchildren, Kolton and Cheston Pack, both of Sycamore; his siblings and their spouses, Betty Pate of Tifton, Bobby Joe and Linda Summers of Sylvester, Donald and Bonnie Summers of Valdosta, Chloe and Jr Holton of Omega and Kristi and Jack LuAllen of Tifton; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Myra and Shep Brock of Hilliard, Florida and Tammy and Lamar Miller of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.
