Obituary

CHICOPEE – Jeannine F. (Fradette) Gonthier, 83, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 13, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center East in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born in Armagh, Province of Quebec, Canada on October 14, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa (Theberge) Fradette. She was raised in Armagh and attended schools in Canada. She married her beloved late husband, Philippe in 1964, moved to Springfield and later settled in Chicopee in 1974. Jeannine was a loving homemaker to her beloved family. Her heart never left Armagh. She often made many return trips to Canada throughout her life and returned with her family every summer. Over the years, she often babysat many of her family member’s and friend’s children. An avid crafter, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting. She also loved cooking and baking. Above all, she loved spending time with her loving family and her many dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Philippe Gonthier who was Called Home on November 22, 1987. They were married in April of 1964 in Canada and were blessed with over 23 years of happiness together. She leaves her two beloved children, Linda J. Stewart and her husband, Scott, of Chicopee and Steven P. Gonthier and his wife, Nicole, of Belchertown; her four cherished grandchildren, Krista and Abbey Stewart and Emily and Nathan Gonthier; her two dear brothers, Aime Fradette of Springfield and Robert Fradette and his wife, Micheline, of Armagh, Canada; her six dear sisters, Lina Rouillard and her husband, Emile, of Springfield, Rose Doiron and her husband, Rene, of Quebec, Canada, Yolande Fradette of Quebec, Germaine Disco of Montreal, Canada, and Marie Bernatchez and her husband, Jean-Paul, and Lise Dubreuil and her husband, Remi, all of St. Raphael de Bellechasse, Quebec, Canada; her dear sister-in-law, Denise Fradette of Quebec; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Gonthier and Fradette families. In addition to her beloved parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three dear brothers, Lionel Fradette and his wife, Cecile, Maurice Fradette and his wife, Cecile, and Andre Fradette; her dear brother-in-law, Daniel Disco; and her dear sister-in-law, Marie Fradette. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday morning, January 20, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
