Obituary

WEBSTER – Shirley A. (Allart) Blackett, 89, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the Golden Life Home Care in Webster. Her husband of 53 years, Donald W. Blackett, died in 2004.

She leaves 4 nieces, Susan O’Neal of North Carolina, Judith Skully of Ohio, Deborah Abernathy of Georgia and Jean Corey of Florida; great-nieces and great-nephews and many Craver cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Douglas Whitney Allart.

She was born in Washington, D.C. the daughter of Jacob and Julia (Whitney) Allart. She was raised in Sherman, New York. She graduated from Sherman High School. Shirley received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948 from the University of Rochester. She and her husband lived in Boston for 4 years and Newton for 46 years before moving to Webster in 2003.

Mrs. Blackett was a professor of mathematics at Northeastern University in Boston for over 30 years.

She was an avid reader and letter writer. She enjoyed camping with her husband, the outdoors and daily walking.

At Mrs. Blackett’s request all services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of the Chester C. Corbin Library, c/o Webster Town Hall, 350 Main Street, Webster, MA 01570. Arangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
