Obituary

In Taunton, January 11, 2018 Manuel I. DaSilva, passed away in Marian Manor Nursing home following a brief illness. Manuel was the loving husband of the late Maria E. (Borges) DaSilva. He was born in Faial, Portugal, the son of the late Manuel & Francisca (DaFaria) DaSilva. Manuel has resided in Taunton since 1959. He served Portugal as a sergeant in their Army. Manuel was employed as a fisherman and a whaler before coming to America. He was employed at the former Copper Craft Guild in Taunton until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, watching his favorite soccer team and above all cherished his time with family. He leaves his two daughters, Lucia Fernandes and her husband Larry of New Bedford and Rosalia Roderick of Taunton. His siblings, Gilda Andrade and Maria Lacerda both of East Providence, RI., his grandchildren Daniel and Jamie Luisi, Scott Roderick, Christopher Fernandes, April Souza, Kevin Fernandes and Krystal Roderick, and his 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Tuesday, January 16th at 10 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Church in Taunton at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday from 5-7 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
