John R. Barretto passed away on January 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old.
John was born in Medford and a longtime resident of Medford and Melrose. He worked for many years as a self- employed contractor. John was an avid wrestling fan and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
John was the beloved husband of the late Mary R. (Connor) Barretto. He was the son of the late Nicholas and Phyllis (Ciulla) Barretto. John was the loving father of Phyllis Cuddy and her partner Joe, John Barretto Jr. and his wife Kathy, Robert Barretto and his wife Annie, Grace DiLemme and her husband Robert, Lisa Cortese and her husband Louie and Nicholas Barretto and his wife Laurel. He was the dear brother of Josephine Kiklis, Nicholas Barretto Jr., Louis Barretto, Michael Barretto, Vera Ford, Marie LaHue, and the late Anna Mangiasi, Philip and William Barretto. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Monday January 15th at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-8pm.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford
