Obituary

Francis H. (Fran) Allison, age 86, of Franklin, MA died January 9, 2018. He was the husband of Irene H. Allison. Born in Peterborough, NH, May 16, 1931. He was the son of the late Hedley and Evelyn L. (Austin) Allison. He lived his early life in Antrim, NH, moving to Franklin, MA in 1958.

He was educated in Antrim graduating from Antrim High in 1949. He entered the Air Force on April 30, 1951, where he served as a radio technician, stationed in Japan for 27 months. He obtained the rank of Airman 1st Class earning his honorable discharge on April 30, 1955. He married Irene on May 14, 1955. He worked for Crandall Hicks Co. for 37 years before retiring in 1992. In his retirement, he became an accomplished Scroll Saw Craftsman, working mostly in solid oak.

Along with his wife of 62 years, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Basinger and husband Rick , three sons: Roy and wife Janice, Glen and wife Ellen, and Scott and wife Susan, 7 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. Two brothers: Theodore and wife Bev, Arthur and wife Ann, one sister, Leona Bohannon, together with many nieces and nephews. Fran was predeceased by his brother Robert A. Allison.

He was a member of the USAF 511th AC&W Retirement Association. His hobbies included woodworking, reading, and traveling, having been able to visit 48 of the 50 U.S. states and 28 foreign countries. He was also an avid Boston Sports fan.

Calling hours will be Monday, January 15, 2018, 11 AM – 1 PM at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA, with service to immediately follow. Burial will take place after the service at Union Street Cemetery, Franklin, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Milford Medical Center or to the Friends of Franklin Elders.
