Barbara (Drake) Anderson 86, a lifelong Whitman resident, passed away peacefully on January 8 at Sachem Center for Health & Rehabilitation after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Roy & Myrtie Drake and the youngest of a large family which included five sisters and four brothers, all of whom predeceased her.
She was a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1949. Barbara was the wife of the late Leon E. (Andy) Anderson for 47 yrs. When married to Andy, they belonged to the Cape Way Rovers Motorcycle Club for many years. After raising her daughters Barbara worked for New England Art, Standard Products, and the Foxboro Company.
She loved cats and flowers - especially yellow roses. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed listening to music by Liberace and Rod Stewart. She was fond of the beach and vacationed at Whitehorse Beach with her family during many summers.
Barbara leaves behind her children Judy Conroy and her husband Ray, and Lori Anderson, as well as her grandchildren Elizabeth Fama and her husband Steve, Lacy Floryanzia and her husband Adam, and Sara Anderson. She also leaves 4 great grandchildren Avery, Paige, and Brady Fama and Jalen Floryanzia and her beloved cat, Sasha.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours Saturday, January 13 from 1-2 PM at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St., (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, with a service honoring Barbara to follow at 2 PM. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
