Obituary

Charles Alvin "Charlie" Holloway, age 87, of Water Valley, MS, died Monday, January 8, 2018, at his home. He was born January 3, 1931 in Water Valley, MS to the late Alvin H. Holloway and Gladys H. Holloway. While serving in the United States Air Force, Staff Sgt. Holloway was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal during his time at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois. Using his training he received while in service, Charlie went to work for the Yalobusha General Hospital while it was being built and after it opened. He retired as a Maintenance Supervisor after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed camping, traveling, woodworking and making crafts. He attended Jumpers Chapel Methodist Church.

Services are planned for Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Charles' body will be cremated and his ashes will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley in a private ceremony at a later time.

He is survived by his son, Steve Holloway of Water Valley, MS; three grandchildren, Ashley (Sam) Ritter and Rachel (Adam) Sivils, both of Corinth, TX, and Thomas Holloway of Southaven, MS; six great grandchildren, Rosalyn Sivils, Jacob Sivils, Annabelle Ritter, Grant Ritter, Abram Sivils, and Graham Sivils, all of Corinth, TX; and two nephews, Jimmy Holloway of Memphis, TN and William Howard “Duck” Holloway of Searcy, AR.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Genora Swearengen Holloway; a son, Charles A. Holloway, II; and a brother, Howard Holloway.
