Obituary


Joseph Kenneth Peluso, 80,of Whitman, passed away Sunday January 7th Ken, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in Quincy, to the late Joseph A. & Lillian (Coffey) Peluso.

After graduating from Weymouth HS in 1955, he went on to complete a Graduate Apprentice Course in Pipe Fitting and Plumbing at Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He then went on work for thirty years in the power and shipbuilding industries, utilizing skills as a Piping Designer/Drafter, Electrical Drafter, Planning and Scheduling, and Quality Control. In addition to Bethlehem Steel, he also held positions with the Boston Naval Shipyard, General Dynamics, and Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation, from which he retired. After his retirement, he was employed for a while with CDI Marine Company, and several “ship check” trips took him and his wife to San Diego and Hawaii.

He was an avid reader and loved to watch the Boston Bruins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Florence (Shannon), his daughter Debra Hutchinson, his parents, and his sister, Joan Walsh. Ken is survived by four children; Karen (Gregory) Strandberg, Michael (Kathy) Peluso, Robert (Michele) Peluso, David Peluso, and son-in-law, PJ Hutchinson, as well as nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving him is a sister, Theresa (Daniel) Jancauskas of Port Richie, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Friday January 12th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. ( Rt 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the St James Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be on Thursday January 11th from 4:00-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St, West Bridgewater, MA 02379
