Obituary

FALL RIVER – Antonio Castro, age 91 of Fall River, passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Catholic Memorial Home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice (Andrade) Castro. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Ernane & Etelvina (Sousa) Castro. Prior to retiring he was the Chief Fire Warden for the Department of Environmental Management Division of Forests & Parks and of the Bureau of Forest Fire Control.

He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of the Bristol County Fire Chiefs Association, State Retiree’s Assoc., a former Cub & Boy Scout Leader, past president of the North Park American Little League, and Director of the USS Yosemite AD19 Association.

He is survived by his children: David Castro (wife Carol) of Tiverton, RI, Jay Anthony Castro (wife Helen) of Fall River, MA and Roberta Dobbins (husband Paul) of Herndon, VA; siblings: Belmiro Castro of Somerset, Edward Castro of FL, and Mary Deschenes of Swansea; 3 grandchildren: Noah, Katharine and Christopher; 2 great-grandchildren: Arianna & Carter; several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Adrian Castro.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name Church at 9 A.M.
