Charley “Horace” Fowler, 90, of Ty Ty passed away Monday, January 8, 2018, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Fowler will be laid to rest at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Dean Peters, Josh Walker, Matthew Fowler, Adam Williams, Tyler Sumner, Matt Harten, Steffen Pearman, Zach Baker and Aayden Harten will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Crumley, Gordon Hughes, Tom Harris and Harry Bowen.
Born August 16, 1927 in Tift County, Mr. Fowler was the son of the late Charlie Fowler and Ida Phelps Fowler. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith M. Scarborough Fowler, who passed away in 2006; six brothers; and four sisters. Before retiring, he was the owner and operator of Fowler Farms in Ty Ty. As a child he attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula and, in his adult years, he attended Tift Avenue Church of God.
Mr. Fowler is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roger and Donna Fowler of Brookfield, Greg and Brenda Fowler of Hahira and LaDon Fowler of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lethia and Geoff Rockwell and Rachel and Lee Walker, all of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Elroy and Katie Fowler of Milledgeville; eleven grandchildren, Heather Pearman, Matthew Fowler, Jennifer Williams, Corey Fowler, Kari Harten, Michelle Peters, Tyler Sumner, Amanda Baker, Josh Walker, Kerigan Fowler and Kailyn Fowler; and twelve great-grandchildren.
