Obituary


Gilda Vultaggio, of Medford formerly of Boston's North End passed away peacefully, January 4, 2018, following a lengthy period of declining health. She was 96 years of age. Gilda was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. "Peno" Vultaggio. Born in Boston she was a daughter of the late Zefferino and Carmela (Cianciullo) Cerqua.

Gilda worked for twenty years at MIT in the food services department prior to her retirement. She was a talented cook and enjoyed sharing her culinary delights with her family and friends. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting and was a member for many years of the Old Timers Club of Medford and participated in many of the club’s activities and outings. However, her greatest joy was her family. Nothing made her happier than to spend time with those she loved. She will fondly be remembered for her devotion and love of family.

In addition to her late husband and parents, Gilda is predeceased by her sisters, Agnes Alexander, Cora Peterson and Susan Antonino.

She is lovingly survived by her sister, Barbara Devlin of Woburn and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, January 11th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Margaret Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday, from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Gilda's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
