Obituary

GILLIS, Gerard F. (“Gerry”, “Gil”, “Leroy”) 75, of Wakefield, formerly of West Roxbury entered into rest suddenly on January 4, 2018. Son of the late Walter J. and Helen C. (Delaney) Gillis. Husband of the late Ann H. Dwyer. Devoted father of Matthew Gillis and his wife Mindy of New York, NY, Patrick Manzi and his wife Marcy of Wakefield, Laura (Manzi) Sinars and her husband Douglas of Clarendon Hills, IL, Michael Manzi and his wife Diana of Billerica and Vincent Manzi and his wife Kelley of Stoneham. Dear brother of Virginia Gillis of West Roxbury, Barbara Gillis of Norfolk, and the late Laurence Gillis. Loving “Grampa” of Benjamin & Caleb Gillis, Danika Manzi, William & Katherine Sinars, Katelyn, John, Christina, Nicholas & Julianne Manzi and Brenna & Joseph Manzi. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours from 4pm - 8pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St, WEST ROXBURY. At Gerry’s request burial will be private in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Gerry was a graduate of Boston Latin School, Boston College and Suffolk University Law School. Gerry was a veteran who served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gerry’s memory to Boston Latin School, 78 Avenue Louis Pasteur, Boston, MA 02115.
