Ester D. Da Silva, 69, of New Bedford died January 4, 2018 at Sacred Heart Home after a brief illness.
Born in Lajes do Pico, Azores, the daughter of the late Jose A. and Adelaide (Santos) Da Silva, she has lived in New Bedford since 1980.
She was formerly employed as a nurses aide at Sacred Heart Home for 30 years until her retirement.
Ester had a free spirit with a zest for life. She enjoyed traveling, reading, shopping and spending time with her sisters.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Paulo Da Silva and Laurindo Da Silva, both of Azores; 7 sisters, Lidia Da Silva and Maria Da Silva, both of New Bedford, Maria Gomes, Lurdes Da Silva, Diana Da Silva and Ana Cristina Da Silva, all of Canada and Yvonne Teles of Portugal; 7 nieces and nephews, Robert Gomes, Glen Gomes and Stephen Gomes, all of Canada, Steven Da Silva, Debbie Da Silva and Phillip Da Silva, all of New Bedford and Dr. Guido Da Silva Teles of Azores.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 8th at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Her family will receive guests on Monday morning from 10 - 11:30 AM prior to her service. Burial will be private.
