James (Skip) J. Doherty, 83, of Derry, NH, died Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry, NH. He was born in Queens, NY on February 25, 1934, a son of Joseph and Jeanette. Skip loved the ocean and enjoyed building model ships in his free time as well as cruising the Caribbean with his family and friends. He is a Navy veteran and served during the Korean War.
He is survived by his son, Jim Doherty and wife Beth; daughter, Maureen Brown and husband Michael; ten grandchildren, Casey, Allie, Erin, Megan, Kali, Kathryn, Shamus, Molly, Evelyn and Jack and; sister, Eileen Smith and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his loving wife Catherine and daughter Catherine Wade.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 10 am to 11 am in the Peabody Funeral Home and Crematorium, 15 Birch St. Derry. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery om E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses.
