Richard “Dick” C. Bagge, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Lakeland, Florida on December 29, 2017 after a period of declining health. Richard was born in Taunton, MA on January 23, 1945, a son of the late George and Alma (Nelson) Bagge. He was a 1963 graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton. Richard worked as an X-ray technician in the area for many years, and was a firefighter for several years with the City of Taunton. He was also the owner/operator of Northwoods Builders in Taunton, MA.
An avid fisherman, Richard had a lifelong love for Squam Lake in New Hampshire where he enjoyed both fishing and boating. He retired to Squam Lake in Ashland, NH, where he served on the Board of Selectmen for one term and was a tour boat Captain on Big Squam Lake. He and his wife Ginny later relocated to Lakeland, Florida where he continued to enjoy his hobbies of fishing and flying radio-controlled airplanes.
Richard leaves behind his loving wife, Virginia “Ginny” (Cogswell) Bagge who he adored for the past 18 years and his three sons who he was extremely proud of, Michael Bagge and his wife Sherry of Berkley, MA, Steven Bagge of Taunton and Jeffrey Bagge and his wife Lisa of Taunton, MA. He was the grandfather of Bryan Bagge of Boston, MA, Derek Bagge of Berkley, MA and Sarah Bagge of Taunton, MA. He is also survived by his siblings Janice Jacobson and her husband Edward, David Bagge and his wife Catherine, and Nancy Sullivan and her husband William, all of Easton, MA and Judith Macord and her husband Joseph of Campton, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Neil Bagge.
Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street, Taunton, MA on Friday January 12th at 9 am. A Mass will be held at St Mary’s Church in Taunton at 10 am. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 4-7 pm.
