New Bedford– Margarida (Botelho) Tavares, age 86 of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Tavares and the daughter of the late Maria Rosa (Moniz) Botelho and the late Jose Botelho Nunes.
She was born in St. Michael, Azores. Margarida worked at Cameo Curtains as a Stitcher for many years until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter: Maria Angela Tavares of Taunton; 2 Grandchildren: Jessica Oliveira of Taunton and Shawn Tavares of Florida; 5 sisters: Beatrice Cabral of New Bedford, Estrela Arruda, Rosarinha Amaral, Julia DeSousa and Rosa Ribeiro all of Canada; 1 Godson: Joao Cabral of New Bedford and 2 great-grandchildren: Samantha Tavares and Daniela Oliveira.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her visiting hours on Friday morning from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home, with a service to begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private.
