Obituary


Joe was born in 1953 to Cynthia Bradbury and Joseph Kennie Sr.  in Buxton.  He graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in 1972 where he played basketball and joined his team at the State Championship in 1971.  Upon graduation, Joe began his lifelong career in construction and eventually owned his own construction business, Joseph Kennie Construction.  In 1998, Joe and his family moved to Virginia for work.  While there Joe and his family cultivated many wonderful friendships which created a second family, John, Linda, Alecia, Kirstin, Kayla, and Addison Hebb. Joe was the proud godfather of Addison John Parrish Hebb. DayCare families
The Moss Family, The Ruckers ,the Corr family, and others. Neighbors were so warm, made Joe fit right into the neighborhood in making Christmas a special tradition Everyone was right 
There the Frechs, the Veno’s ,Linda Welsh ,Judy Giambre The Hudsons, and many others.

In 2013, Joe and his family moved back to Maine to be closer to their family.  Shortly upon returning to Maine, Joe was admitted to the hospital with congestive heart failure.  Joe was released from the hospital and did not let the doctor’s predictions of having only six months to a year let slow him down.  With the support of his wife and family Joe continued to do the things he enjoyed which included woodworking, arts and crafts, odds and end repairs, fishing and spending time with family. Joe also loved spending time with his beloved dog, Daisy.

Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kathy of Hollis, his mother Cindy of Hollis, and sisters Becky Hebert of Buxton, and Tammy Pinkham Plouffe of Hollis and her husband Ben Plouffe. His children, Babbie – Joe McCorrison and her husband Patrick of Standish,  Jessica Gardner and her husband Milton of Buxton,  Josh Clark and his wife, Lori of Gray, Melissa Washburn and her husband, Lee of Limington, Bryce Kennie of Gorham, and Nicole Kennie of Hollis.  He was a proud Grandfather to 24 grandchildren; Payton, Hannah, Emma, Ethan, Sara, Mercedes, Shania, Kyra, Mia, Brooke-Lynn, Josie, Isaac, Trevor C., Colby, Trevor W., Jordan, Dalton, Tyler, Caleb, Desirae, Jada, Quinton, Gabriella and Angel.  He was blessed to have 5 great grandchildren; Bentley, Brylynn, Vanessa, Tanner, and William.

Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph Kennie Sr. and his granddaughter, Lily Clark.

HOLLIS- Joseph “Joe” M. Kennie Jr., age 64, passed away on Dec. 30, 2017 at his home in Hollis.
He is survived by his beloved wife- Kathy (Litwinowich) Kennie; his mother- Cynthia (Bradbury) St. Amand; children- Babbie Joe McCorrison, Jessica Gardner, Josh Clark, Melissa Washburn, Bryce Kennie, and Nicole Kennie; sisters- Rebecca Hebert and Tammy Pinkham Plouffe; and many other relatives and dear friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday Jan. 3, from 4 – 6 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Following the visiting hours, there will be a reception at the Hollis Lion Club Hall, Rt. 35 in Hollis.
