Obituary

Mrs. Pearl (LeClair) Gorczyca passed away peacefully at The Arbors in Taunton a month after her 100th birthday. Born in Taunton on November 22, 1917, Pearl was the daughter of the late Misael and Agnes (LaVoie) LeClair. She was the wife of the late John P. Gorczyca for 57 happy years. Pearl grew up in Taunton and attended St. Jacques Elementary School and Taunton High School. She was a devoted mother and wife and dedicated the first part of her married life to making a home for John and their children. Pearl was a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church since 1947 and of St. Jude the Apostle Parish to present. She was a member of the former I.C.C. Women’s Guild and the Taunton Lodge of Elks. She loved the beach, reading, shopping, morning coffee out, and slot machines.

She is survived by 3 children: Shirley (Gorczyca) Martin and her husband, Robert J. Martin of Taunton, John P. Gorczyca, Jr. and his wife Anne Gorczyca of Mattapoisett, and Janine (Gorczyca) Perry and her husband, Elwell Perry of Acushnet. She has 4 grandchildren: Jeffrey Martin of Norton, Tracy (Martin) Martin of Amesbury, Lindsay (Perry) Foley of Brookline, N.H., and Matthew Perry of Berkley. She also has 5 great grandchildren: Andrew and Ashlyn Martin of Norton, Benjamin and John Martin of Amesbury, and Eve Foley of Brookline, N.H. Pearl was the last surviving sibling in a family of 10: Armand LeClair, Alfred LeClair, Albina (LeClair) Grant, Henry LeClair, Rita (LeClair) (St.Martin) Roberts, Agnes (LeClair) Boucher, Eva (LeClair) Kulpa, Misael LeClair and Frances LeClair. She has 3 surviving sisters-in-law: Collette LeClair, Maureen LeClair, and Tona Laffan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, December 29 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Annunciation of the Lord Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Visiting Hour will be held prior to the funeral, Friday, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M.
