Obituary

Catheline (“Cathe”) Hebert Pawlina

Died of complications from heart failure and kidney disease on November 22, 2017 in Lowell.

Cathe was born on April 24, 1949 to Alfreda E. Hebert and William R. Hebert in Attleboro, MA. She was raised with her two brothers, Bill and John in North Attleboro and Wellesley, MA. Cathe graduated from Wellesley High School and attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL. She was married as a young woman to Tom Pawlina and had two children, Shelby and Jason, both of Boulder, Colorado. She lived in Chelmsford for over 40 years. She divorced and spent over 30 years with her devoted second husband, Bill Lopez, who lovingly cared for her during many years of illness.

Cathe worked at several downtown businesses, including Tile Designs, Bob’s Coins, The Center Flower Shop, and Feeney’s Florist, as well as Wang Laboratories and Ethan Allan, where she met her husband Bill. Later, she ran Tahitian Tan in Chelmsford center. Before retiring, she worked at Fern’s in Carlisle and in the Carlisle public schools.

Cathe enjoyed her friends at Town Meeting playing Trivial Pursuit, and loved to spend time watching the birds and walking among the flowers in her yard. She was a great cat lover, of which she had three over the years- Yo, Pip, and Simon. She was known for her warmth, loving personality, and loyalty to her friends. She warmly welcomed all kinds of people into her home. She loved people, but babies were her favorites! Nurses and doctors commented on her upbeat humor and friendliness despite the seriousness of her illness. She was always artistic- from acrylics to ceramics, to watercolor, to pottery- art was always in her life.

She was predeceased by her parents and her younger brother, John. Though ill herself at that time of his death, she made the trip to Texas to comfort his wife. She is survived by her husband and two children, and her brother Bill and his wife. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Freddi, a son-in-law, Mark, and a grand-daughter, Emery Shae all who reside in Boulder, CO.
