Obituary

HOLYOKE – Ronald A. Nadeau, 81, of the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, was Called Safely Home on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on April 30, 1936, a beloved son of the late Rene H. and Yvonne (Beaupre) Nadeau. He was raised in Holyoke and graduated from the former Precious Blood High School. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Assumption College in Worcester. He attended the Seminary in Canada. He left the seminary and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Machinist’s Mate Second Class. Following his military service, he lived in the Aldenville section of Chicopee and later lived in Holyoke, Hatfield, Springfield and Southwick. He was employed as a power engineer for Con Edison and later Northeast Utilities. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick for many years. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Elaine J. (Labrecque) Nadeau. They were married on September 2, 1967 at the former Saint Joseph Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 50 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving sister, Doris S. Goodman of North Richland Hills, TX; his loving sister-in-law, Annette L. Plante and her husband, Paul, of Springfield; his three dear nieces and his dear nephew, Lisa Holder and her husband, Eric, Patricia Hass and her husband, Dan, Theresa Plante and Thomas Plante and his wife, Laura; his seven dear great-nephews and great-nieces, Marie and Andrew Holder, Erin, Nicole and Ryan Hass, and Madolyne and Sebastian Plante; and his many dear friends. His Funeral will be held on Friday morning, December 29, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
