Leon Hiram Abelon, 81 of Lakewood, NJ died December 22, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born in Brunswick, ME, he was the son of the late Philip and Betty (Ashman) Abelon. Raised and educated in Lynn, MA a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. Leon continued his studies graduating from Northeastern University with a BS in Chemistry and a MBA. He was president of the Ballroom Dance Club and Farm Club in his community in NJ. Known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, he had a knack for making his family and friends laugh.
He is survived by his children Daniel Abelon and his wife Erika of Brooklyn, NY, Deborah Levine and her husband Jason of Cambridge, his brothers Joseph Abelon and his partner Roseanne Duchane of Lynn, Martin Abelon and his wife Sandy of FL, and his grandchildren Samuel Abelon, Benjamin Abelon and Ruth Levine.
Graveside services will be held Sunday December 24th at Pride of Lynn Cemetery 89 Lakeshore Rd., Lynn at 12:30 PM. The family will sit Shiva at the home of Deborah & Jason following services until 8PM. Shiva will be held Mon- Weds. 2PM-8PM at Deborah & Jason’s home and Thursday 2PM-8PM & Friday from 2PM until sundown at Daniel and Erika’s home in Brooklyn, NY.
