Obituary

Mrs. Eleanor M. (Santos) Berube, of Taunton, entered into rest Tuesday, December 19 at Island Terrace, Lakeville, following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard A. Berube. She was born 91 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late William and Helena (Vincent) Santos. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, Eleanor had been employed as Treasurer for Mechanics Cooperative Bank for several years. She was also employed at the former Manny’s News on Bay Street for a number of years. She was also employed at the former Camp Myles Standish during World War II. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish.

She leaves: 1 daughter: Kathleen DeVaney and her husband, Randy of Mont Belvieu, Tx.; 1 granddaughter: Breanne DeVaney of Mont Belvieu, Tx., and several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was also the mother of the late Nancy Berube of Virginia, and sister of the late Evelyn Abreau of Taunton.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be celebrated in St. Jude the Apostle Church, 249 Whittenton St., on Friday, December 22 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, Ma., 02452, or to the charity of your choice. The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton is assisting with the arrangements.
